STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Financial Need

We encourage individuals, churches and groups to personally get involved in helping theological education continue at Bethlehem Bible College.  Our mandate is to train interested young Christians to become future Sunday school leaders, teachers of religion in the public schools, pastors, care workers, etc.  At a time when religious fundamentalism is rapidly gaining ground in the Middle East, supporting students who are willing to stand for the Lord Jesus Christ is a truly important financial investment.

Costs are kept minimal at BBC.  Most often our students do not have the resources to attend college, and they usually need assistance in paying the costs.  In addition, because of the poor economy, part-time jobs are few in our area.  Students come both as day students and as residential students.  We make every effort not to turn anyone away, if he or she desires to come and study the Word of God and be trained for service.

The College is able to offer a limited number of work/study positions for students wanting to work off part of their tuition costs or for extra spending money.  These jobs entail 7-15 hours/week and may include maintenance work, cleaning, security, help in the library, etc.  Financial aid is available, to a very limited degree.  It is given to students demonstrating academic excellence and need.  The re-payment schedule is tailored to the student's situation.

The Actual Cost

Taking into account teacher salaries, administrative costs, maintenance, insurance, etc., it actually costs approximately $6300 per student per year to study at the Bethlehem Bible College ($8000 for boarding students).  The amount charged per student and the actual costs are listed below.  Despite the reduction in student fees, we often have to find scholarship funds to help needy students to cover that amount.  The difference ($6300-$952=$5375) also has to be raised each year.

TUITION AND FEES The following is a breakdown of fees owed during the two-semester year (September-May).  Students need to allow extra money for books, field trips, transportation, and personal expenses.  Payment schedules are flexible and geared to individual needs.

BBC Student Scholarship Fund

Contributions to the BBC Student Scholarship Fund can be made in a variety of ways.  The following are just a few examples.

MEMORIAL FUND

Donations can be made directly to the fund in the name of an individual, group or church in someone's memory.  These gifts can, for example, be generated through endowments or bank accounts generating interest in the home country.

GROUP EVENTS

Bake sales, "Christmas in July" parties, Sunday School Collections, fund-raisers, can generate funds for students and their financial needs.

STUDENT ADOPTION PROGRAM

Individuals, churches or groups can ask for the name of a BBC student and write to them, send them school supplies, books and materials, and sponsor their costs at the BBC

This is a wonderful project as it involves people personally with our young people and gives the home church, group or individual an involvement with missions and helps them become aware of the needs of other people groups.

OUTRIGHT GRANTS

Donations can be made and used by the College where best needed by individual students.

SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDS

Second, third and fourth year students may be given financial awards based on proven scholastic excellence, leadership ability (or for some other criteria).

There are many ways to get involved in sponsoring a student.  We welcome your suggestions and your help.
