Student Life
Bethlehem Bible College is an interdenominational institution and is blessed to have many different church traditions—orthodox, catholic, and protestant—represented in the student body. Our students participate in a variety activities offered through their local churches and youth fellowships. In addition, the College also offers students opportunities to become involved in an array of activities to supplement their academic commitments.
While the majority of BBC students live locally with their families, the College also has dorm facilities available for both men and women. The dorms are open to students from other parts of the West Bank who wish to study at the Bible College but whose families live too far away to commute daily. Students living in the dorms are able to form lifelong friendships with fellow live-in students.
Campus life is very busy as BBC students, faculty, and staff are involved in a vast array of events. Among these are charitable outreaches to the community. Twice per year, the Shepherd Society, the humanitarian arm of BBC, oversees a food distribution to marginalized families in our neighborhood. In addition, the College has spearheaded an annual week-long, free health clinic for persons in the community who cannot afford health care. Students are invited to take part in practical ministry outreaches through participation in these activities and through sports outreaches, youth retreats, and summer camps.
As a Bible-centered institution, BBC is deeply invested in student spiritual formation. The spiritual life of our students is nurtured through chapel services twice per week. In chapel, students are encouraged to share their talents and gifts through music, song, testimony, and Bible study. Chapel speakers are invited from a diverse assortment of traditions in an effort to broaden the students’ perspectives. All students are part of a cell group, a small group that meets weekly and is lead by a faculty mentor. Cell groups provide a special venue for discipleship and communal learning. In addition, student retreats and seminars are offered several times per year to fortify spiritual development.
A highlight of student life is the Bethlehem Bible College Choir, which many of our students participate in. The Choir is very popular locally and performs many concerts throughout the school year. It has also been privileged to travel on tour to other countries. Being from Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, the choir is fortunate to be a part of the International Choir Concert held annually on Christmas Eve in Manger Square in Bethlehem. The BBC Choir has recorded a CD, which is available upon request.
